Senior AccountantAccounting Department | Reports to: Director of FinanceFLSA: Non-ExemptLocation: Chicago Loop (Hybrid: 3 days in office, 2 days remote)Salary Range: $100,000–$115,000OverviewOur client, a full-service law firm located in the Loop, is seeking a Senior Accountant to support core accounting operations and financial reporting. This role partners closely with the Director of Finance and the broader Accounting team.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain the general ledger and chart of accountsPerform monthly close and prepare financial statements and management reportsProvide financial modeling, analysis, and trend reporting for strategic planningAssist with forecasting, budgeting, and annual financial/compensation surveysDocument and maintain accounting policies and proceduresEnsure compliance with GAAP and oversight of Client Trust AccountsCoordinate with external auditors, tax returns, and mandatory filings (e.g., IL/Chicago Use Tax)Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and fixed asset recordsSupport all Accounting functions; complete ad hoc projects as neededServe as backup to the payroll coordinatorQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred3–5 years of accounting experience required; law firm experience a plusProficiency with Elite Enterprise/3E a plus; strong Microsoft Excel skillsThorough knowledge of GAAPExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skillsStrong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlinesHigh attention to detail and accuracy; proactive team contributorPhysical RequirementsAbility to work in a typical office environment and operate standard office equipmentAbility to sit and/or stand for extended periodsAbility to read computer screens and printed materials for prolonged periods
