01  ABOUT US

Scout House is a creative technology studio that builds creator programs, content engines, and immersive experiences for the world’s biggest platforms. We’ve launched 126 games, produced content campaigns for partners like Meta and YouTube, and developed creator education programs that turn emerging talent into platform-native storytellers. We’re producers, strategists, developers, and filmmakers who believe the best content comes from people who understand both the creative craft and the technology shaping it.

We’re in the middle of a deliberate evolution — building structured creator networks, expanding our work across short-form video and spatial media, and deepening our partnerships with major platforms. Our audiences live on Discord, debate model architectures, and build games for fun. They can spot content made for someone else in three seconds. The person who thrives here is curious about the same things they are.

02  THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Social Creative Lead with a genuine point of view on short-form content — and the hands-on production experience to back it up. You think in Reels, TikToks, Shorts, and Snaps. You know why a hook lands in the first 1.5 seconds, why the same cut performs differently across platforms, and what “platform-native” actually means when you’re staring at a timeline.

But here’s the specific thing we’re looking for: your creative instincts were shaped by making things — not by studying content strategy. Maybe you started as a photographer, designer, or editor. Maybe you’ve been producing your own work for years. You developed social fluency because you were curious about where audiences were and what resonated, not because someone handed you a platform playbook. Your aesthetic eye is immediately visible in your work. And your taste is calibrated for the tech, gaming, and developer world — not entertainment or lifestyle.

This is a creative ownership role, not a scheduling-and-approvals one. You’ll concept original content, write briefs that actually inspire creators, give sharp edit notes that make the work better, and — when we’re on the ground at events — call the shots on what gets captured and how it becomes a polished social piece within hours.

Primarily, you’ll be directing and shaping content — working with creators to elevate their work, not replacing them. But we want someone who can also pick up a phone or camera and produce something great if the moment called for it. The best creative leads we’ve worked with are still in the work. They know what a good shot feels like because they’ve taken one.

You’ll be the person who shapes what Scout House’s social presence looks like and feels like. Our audience builds things, ships products, and has strong opinions about craft. What we need is someone whose taste speaks their language.

You’ll work closely with our Creative Director, Program Manager, and internal production team. This is a freelance engagement estimated at approximately 20 hours per week / 80 hours per month.

03  WHAT YOU’LL DO

Creative Direction & Content Strategy

  • Own and elevate the creative vision for Scout House social content — across client programs and our own channels — working closely with the Creative Director to maintain a consistent, high standard of craft.
  • Concept social content ideas that are platform-native, audience-aware, and built around a genuine point of view — content that would feel at home in the feeds of developers, game designers, and AI-curious builders, not just casual scrollers.
  • Write creative briefs that give creators a clear direction and room to bring their own voice — not just a checklist of deliverables.
  • Stay ahead of short-form content trends, formats, and platform-specific nuances across TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Snapchat — and know the difference between what’s trending and what will actually land for our audiences.

Creator Collaboration & Talent Management

  • Work in the creator economy idiom — you’re here to amplify creators’ voices, not direct performances.
  • Give creative feedback that’s clear, specific, and constructive. You can articulate exactly why a hook isn’t landing, why the pacing is off, or why a CTA feels forced — and what to do about it.
  • Build strong working relationships with talent that keep them informed, motivated, and producing their best work.

Event & Field Production

  • Serve as the on-the-ground social lead at client events — spotting social-first moments as they happen, guiding capture for vertical/short-form formats, and making real-time calls about what becomes a Reel, TikTok, or Snap story within hours.
  • Turn raw event footage into polished, platform-ready content quickly, with a clear editorial sense of what will feel right and natural to the target audience.
  • Coordinate with production crew on shot lists, interview setups, and b-roll strategy for social-first event coverage.

Scout House Social Channels

  • Shape the creative direction of Scout House’s own social presence with a cohesive point of view — content that showcases our work and culture in a way that resonates with people who build things for a living.
  • Concept, produce, and oversee content that reflects the craft and ambition of what we actually make.

Workflow & Approvals

  • Own the content approval pipeline — tracking submission status, review cycles, and deadlines across multiple creators simultaneously.
  • Maintain the editorial calendar and keep content planned, submitted, and approved on schedule.

04  YOU ARE

A craft-first creative who figured out platforms. Maybe you started in photography, design, or editing. Somewhere along the way you got obsessed with why certain things worked in certain feeds, and you followed that curiosity until you had real social instincts. You didn’t learn this from a course. You learned it from posting things, watching what happened, and iterating.

Your work has an aesthetic point of view that’s immediately visible. Someone can look at your portfolio and understand your taste without needing you to explain it. And your taste is calibrated for a specific kind of audience: people who follow game dev accounts, watch AI tool breakdowns for fun, and immediately clock content that was made for someone else.

You’ve shot things. You’ve edited things. Maybe it’s not your primary job anymore, but you could pick up a phone and make something worth posting today if you had to — and that’s exactly what keeps your direction sharp and grounded.

You’re equally comfortable in a pre-pro meeting and on a live event floor. You move fast without losing your creative standards, and you know that “good enough for social” is never actually good enough.

05  QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • 3 years in social content creation, social creative production, or creator-led content programs, specifically in short-form vertical video.
  • A portfolio that shows content you conceived — not just coordinated. We want to see your creative fingerprints on it, and we want to immediately understand your aesthetic sensibility.
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience shooting or editing short-form content — even if directing others is now your primary role, you’ve done the work yourself and it shows in how you lead.
  • Taste that is visibly calibrated for tech, gaming, and developer audiences. Your work should feel fluent in those spaces, not imported from entertainment or lifestyle.
  • Strong creative instincts. You know what makes short-form content work on TikTok, Reels, Shorts, and Snapchat, and you can explain why — without relying on metrics alone.
  • Experience collaborating with creators to develop and elevate their content, not just manage delivery timelines.
  • Ability to give clear, actionable creative notes on video content that make the work better without making it feel templated.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication — you can brief creators with clarity and liaise effectively with internal teams and client stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, with a track record of managing complex timelines and approval processes without dropping things.

Preferred

  • Experience working on creator or influencer programs for technology brands, platforms, or gaming companies.
  • A background in photography, design, film, or another craft discipline that informs how you see and direct content.
  • Comfortable picking up a phone or camera and producing content solo when the moment calls for it.
  • Comfort working in fast-turnaround environments where content goes from capture to publish within hours.
  • Editing skills sharp enough to cut a piece yourself, not just review someone else’s work.
  • Familiarity with content management tools, editorial calendars, and project tracking software.
