We stay ahead of disruptions through real-time tracking, strong carrier relationships, and responsive communication, enabling proactive service and peace of mind for our clients.
Job Purpose
Scout Freight is hiring four Business Development Managers across three high-growth service areas: Heavy Haul, Drayage, and Bulk Transportation. In this role, you’ll lead customer acquisition, expand revenue, and strengthen long-term shipper relationships while delivering high-performance, high-integrity logistics solutions. Each specialty requires industry expertise, strong operational understanding, and a deep commitment to exceptional customer service.
Heavy Haul (Open Deck / Oversized / Specialized)
You’ll focus on oversize/overweight freight, industrial equipment, project cargo, and complex open-deck moves. Candidates must bring strong open-deck hauling experience and the ability to navigate permit requirements, escort coordination, specialized equipment, and state-by-state routing. Your mission is to grow accounts through precision planning, risk management, and high-touch service for step decks, RGNs, double drops, multi-axles, and specialized loads.
Drayage (Port & Intermodal)
You’ll develop and grow relationships across import/export and domestic intermodal shippers, managing time-sensitive freight tied to port congestion, rail schedules, equipment availability, and demurrage/detention risk. Success in this role requires strong knowledge of terminals, steamship lines, IMCs, and port operations, along with relentless attention to detail and flawless communication.
Bulk (Dry & Liquid)
You’ll acquire and grow accounts moving commodities such as aggregates, grains, chemicals, powders, resins, and raw materials. This role requires deep familiarity with hoppers, pneumatics, tankers, and dump trailers, including weight restrictions, clean-out standards, contamination control, and special handling requirements. You’ll drive growth by pairing bulk-specific operational knowledge with consultative, solution-oriented selling.
