Senior I&E Technician – Job Description


Duties & Responsibilities

‐ Maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot field instrumentation devices for process equipment including flow, temperature and pressure devices; analytical equipment and instrumentation

‐ Install, calibrate, inspect and troubleshoot instruments and electrical equipment, in accordance with NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, ISA and company standards

‐ Identify, interpret and effectively use drawings and documentation related to electrical and process controls

‐ Interpret and troubleshoot PLC and DCS logic including ladder logic, function block, and structured text routines

‐ Work safely on AC and DC distribution systems from 12 VDC to 600 VAC

‐ Troubleshoot and repair motor control circuits and equipment including VFD’s, motors and motor control circuits

‐ Practice awareness concerning issues of health, safety and the environment; cooperate with appropriate colleagues to anticipate and resolve any hazardous and/or unusual situations (oil spills and line leaks, inclement weather, etc.)

‐ Support operations to minimize production impacts and enhance reliability

‐ Maintain high standards of workmanship and professionalism while working as a member of a team or when working alone

‐ Interpret schematics to troubleshoot problems and performs database maintenance administration

‐ Complete and maintain required safety/regulatory training (CBT)

‐ Read and understand pump curves

‐ Respond to emergencies and participate in emergency response preparedness

‐ Troubleshoot control circuits for motors

‐ Lead, oversee, and participate in performing a wide variety of skilled tasks including installation, repairs, troubleshooting, planning, modification, design, installation and calibration of instrumentation, SCADA control and electrical systems

‐ Develop written procedures for instrumentation and electrical equipment maintenance and inspection

‐ Plan and direct procurement of repair parts and material for electrical and instrument systems for project and maintenance purposes

‐ Develop written procedures for instrumentation and electrical equipment maintenance and inspection

‐ Install and adjust measuring and control devices, signal transmitters, meters and signal pickups

‐ Prioritize, plan and oversee projects and workload assigned; coordinate with employees & contractors regarding project requirements and timelines; delegate work to subordinate staff; assess and plan for future needs

‐ Perform other various tasks as assigned by the Foreman


Skills & Specifications

‐ Able to run rigid conduit, wire and capable of performing terminations

‐ Able to work independently at construction sites, plan delivery of job material, coordinate inhouse and subcontracted resources

‐ Ability to apply the principles of operation of all meters and instruments used in applicable I&E work

‐ Must be self‐driven and motivated; should not require daily guidance for managing workload

‐ Must be able to communicate daily with Production Foreman & Engineering regarding I&E issues in respective area

‐ Able to work with a diverse team

‐ Has integrity, good communication skills, and a positive attitude

‐ Knowledgeable in operating and maintaining equipment within manufacturing, oil and gas facilities

‐ Comfortable working in a fast‐paced high‐pressure production environment

‐ Has basic computer skills; data entry into various electronic databases or the ability to learn

‐ Maintains good housekeeping in all areas of responsibility

‐ Must be able to use and navigate business applications including operations software and be proficient with MS Office

‐ Willing and able to provide interim / relief coverage in the absence of I&E Lead


Education & Qualifications

- 10-15 years of experience operating a bucket truck/ lineman experience required 

‐ Possess a valid driver’s license, CDL a plus (may be required in some locations)

‐ Legally authorized to work in the United States

‐ Able to pass a pre‐employment drug and background check

‐ Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited, state‐certified program

‐ Certifications from trade schools and/or professional organizations are preferred

‐ Industrial Maintenance or Technology Degrees and applicable certifications considered in lieu of some working experience

‐ Must be capable and willing to work overtime as required and participate in an on‐call rotation

‐ Must be able to respond to call outs within 30 minutes of notification

‐ Knowledgeable in operating and maintaining equipment within oil and gas facilities preferred

‐ Capable of lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 50lbs

‐ Capable of rigorous outdoor activities and have manual dexterity with physical ability to work extended hours, climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, working with arms extended above the head, twisting upper body, standing for long periods, working in confined spaces, exposure to extreme weather conditions, driving a vehicle, operation of forklifts and light industrial equipment

Salary : $45 - $55
