Scout Clean Energy is seeking an Environmental and Government Affairs (EGA) Intern for Summer 2026. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in renewable energy development and to learn how environmental, permitting, and policy teams work together to bring clean energy projects to life. 

 

As the EGA Intern, you'll contribute to Scout's environmental and policy initiatives across multiple markets - supporting both the Government & Regulatory Affairs and Environmental & Permitting teams. 

 

What You'll Do 

  • Learn the fundamentals of wind, solar, and energy storage technologies. 
  • Support environmental studies, permitting processes, legislative affairs, and regulatory processes that shape project success. 
  • Assist in policy analysis and advocacy, including preparing materials that communicate Scout's positions to policymakers and stakeholders. 
  • Contribute to environmental compliance strategies for projects in construction. 
  • Develop an understanding of state legislation, environmental and utility regulation affecting renewable energy development. 
  • Help manage Scout's participation in key industry associations.

Preferred Background: 

  • Demonstrated interest in renewable energy or environmental policy. 
  • Strong research, analysis, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects effectively. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 
  • Creative, resourceful approach to problem-solving. 
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. 
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion. 
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. 

Timeline and Location 

This internship will run from May through August 2026. The internship will be a full-time (40 hr/week) commitment for the duration of the 12-week internship program. Candidates will work out of our Boulder office during the duration of the internship program per the program requirements and participate in events around Boulder with the internship cohort. A majority of your work will be done in the office because this role involves significant coordination with team members and internal staff.

Compensation 

Hourly Rate: $25-30 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
