About The Role
The EHS Safety Specialist position is responsible for assisting the EHS Business Partners, Environmental Manager and Fleet Manager to develop and implement health, safety, environmental and compliance programs for multiple divisions that are aligned to the Company’s objectives. This position will be responsible for assisting with performing compliance and record-keeping administrative tasks. This position will require knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and Workers Comp guidelines. Will be expected to actively assist in continuous improvement initiatives and will act with urgency to assist with determining sustainable solutions to issues.

Job Responsibilities
- Support the administration, implementation, and monitoring of safety, security, and environmental programs, policies, and procedures.
- Partner with EHS Business Partners to promote a proactive, behavior-based safety culture focused on personal responsibility, incident prevention, and compliance.
- Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and regulatory applicability reviews to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with OSHA recordkeeping, incident reporting, return-to-work programs, and compliance with ADA and workers’ compensation requirements.
- Collaborate with Environmental and Fleet teams to support compliance and administrative needs related to environmental and transportation programs.
- Develop and coordinate safety training, facility safety meetings, and related content.
- Maintain and update new hire and ongoing employee safety orientation programs.
- Support scheduling and execution of facility EHS assessments to drive continuous improvement and sustainable safety practices.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Previous experience as a Safety Supervisor or Safety Auditor; grain elevator operations knowledge is considered an asset.
- Ability to travel approximately 20–25% to various facility locations.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and perform effectively in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.
- Strong data collection and analytical skills, with the ability to identify incident trends and support reporting efforts.
- Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
- Experience leading incident investigations.
- Experience managing or supporting a site Emergency Response Team.
- Prior experience with EPA and DOT compliance programs.
