Part Time Bakery Assistant

Job Overview

Looking for reliable, motivated people to join our pie crew! At Scotty's, we have been baking pies and other goodies the old fashioned way for 39 years and are now Orange County's premier farm bakery (check out our website to learn more - www.scottyspies.com).

We are looking to add a few new crew members to help us at the bakery during our busy season. We start early in the morning (6am or earlier) and work weekends (our busiest days). Perfect part-time/full-time job for students. Must have driver's license and be able to lift 25 pounds. Kitchen/Bakery experience a plus - but not necessary. We can train you in all aspects of our bakery operation.

We also need sales staff to work at our pie stand and farmer's markets. Weds, Fri, Sat & Sun (hours vary from 8am - 6pm)

Duties

• Assist in preparing a variety of baked goods, including bread, pastries, and cakes, ensuring quality and consistency.
• Decorate cakes and pastries with precision, showcasing creativity and attention to detail.
• Package baked items efficiently for sale or delivery, maintaining presentation standards.
• Support food production processes by measuring ingredients, mixing doughs, and monitoring baking times.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery workspace in compliance with food safety standards.
• Handle customer interactions with friendliness and professionalism, answering questions about products and offering samples when appropriate.
• Follow food handling procedures carefully to ensure safety and hygiene throughout all stages of production.

Requirements

• Prior experience in baking, pastry decoration, or food preparation is preferred but not mandatory; enthusiasm to learn is essential.
• Basic knife skills and familiarity with baking techniques are advantageous.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling practices.
• Experience working in a kitchen environment or restaurant setting is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow recipes accurately.
• Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment. Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
