Description
- Equipment Operator position on a two-person crew to work on construction projects.
- Able to manually and mechanically grade and otherwise manipulate earth and stone in preparation for asphalt paving operations.
- Uses sledgehammer to drive pins, uses pick and shovel to dig.
- Hooks up trailers, fastens attachments to equipment.
- Responsible for site layout and coordination with survey crews to construct grade; familiarity with reading constructions stakes and operating a laser-level is preferable.
- Assist other workers as needed or directed and other duties as assigned by management.
- Communicate with home and business owners as well as the general public when required.
- Opportunities for advancement within the Paving Division and on-the-job training with equipment.
- Able to work outdoors in extreme conditions, such as cold, heat, and humidity.
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
- Able to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and overtime as needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Self-motivated and able to work without constant supervision.

- Positive customer service-oriented attitude.
- Experience in operating skid steer, grader, roller, broom, backhoe, dump truck is preferred.
- Work Environment: Outdoor residential, commercial, and highway construction setting, including occasional night work, with exposure to uneven terrain, dust, dirt, and varying weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
- Proximity Hazards: Must be alert and able to work safely near construction equipment & public traffic.
- Climbing: Must have the physical capability to safely climb on and off of equipment that is greater than 6 feet off the ground on uneven terrain multiple times daily.
- Balance: Including standing and walking on extremely slick and uneven surfaces while carrying.
- Vision: 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions.
- Hearing: Corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions.
- Awkward positions: Getting to and from both sitting and kneeling on the ground.
- Heavy lifting: Awkward parts and equipment up to 50 lbs. from floor to shoulders, and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
