Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Athletic Head Trainer role based in Scottsdale, AZ. The primary responsibilities include developing, coordinating, and administering a sports medicine program focused on the prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. The Athletic Head Trainer promotes student-athlete success through leadership, education, guidance, and training. This position will collaborate with coaches, medical professionals, and administration to deliver comprehensive care and support for the athletic community at Scottsdale Community College.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in sports medicine, kinesiology, recreation therapy, sports nutrition, athletic training, exercise science, health, or related field, and four (4) years of athletic training experience.
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Special Requirements: Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
1. Athletic Trainer Certification from the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC)
2. Athletic Trainer licensure from the Arizona Board of Athletic Training
3. CPR/AED certification may be required to be obtained and maintained on an annual basis
4. Possession of a valid State of Arizona Driver's License (Class D) may be required for some assignments
Required licenses and certifications must be maintained for the duration of employment within the classification. Licenses and certifications may be subject to renewal and/or require Continuing Education Units (CEUs), training, or other conditions by the State or issuing authority.
Desired Qualifications
A. Master's degree in Athletic Training
B. Two or more years of multi-sport athletic training experience, including but not limited to physical
C. Experience ordering supplies and maintaining the inventory of the department
D. One year of full-time, relevant MCCCD experience within the previous two years.
