Maintenance Technician

Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment used in carpet cushion manufacturing. This role supports production by ensuring machinery and vehicles operate safely and efficiently, minimizing downtime, and maintaining plant equipment including mixers, shredders, laminators, conveyors, grinders, and other production systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Maintain and repair equipment used in foam processing, grinding, mixing, and laminating operations.
- Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Inspect machinery regularly and identify potential mechanical or safety issues.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and component replacement as needed.
- Assist with equipment installation, upgrades, and plant improvement projects.
- Maintain maintenance logs, work orders, and documentation.
- Work closely with production supervisors and operators to resolve equipment issues quickly.
- Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and company policies.
- Maintain spare parts inventory and assist with parts ordering when required.
- PM and Repair company vehicles and trailers
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school preferred.
- 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical troubleshooting, and industrial equipment.
- Experience with motors, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, and pumps.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.
- Ability to work in industrial environments with noise, dust, and machinery.
- Ability to work overtime or respond to emergency repairs if required.
Work Environment
- Industrial manufacturing facility producing recycled foam and carpet cushion products.
- Exposure to moving machinery, forklifts, and production equipment.
- May require working around outdoor elements, foam materials, adhesives, and processing equipment.
