Position Summary
The Automotive Painter Technician is responsible for applying paint, coatings, and finishes to vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company quality standards. This role involves surface preparation, color matching, spray application, and finishing work to ensure a high-quality appearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicle surfaces by sanding, masking, priming, and cleaning
- Mix and match paint colors to achieve accurate finishes
- Apply paint using spray guns and other equipment
- Inspect surfaces for defects and ensure smooth, even coating
- Buff, polish, and finish painted surfaces to meet quality standards
- Follow proper safety procedures when handling chemicals and equipment
- Maintain and clean painting tools, spray booths, and work areas
- Collaborate with body technicians and estimators to ensure proper workflow
- Identify and correct paint defects such as runs, orange peel, or uneven coverage
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred)
- 3 years' experience in automotive painting or collision repair
- Knowledge of paint systems, coatings, and refinishing techniques
- Ability to use spray guns, sanding tools, and polishing equipment
- Strong attention to detail and color accuracy
- Physical ability to stand, bend, and lift as required
- Valid driver’s license
