Scott Regional Technology Center (SRTC) is seeking a dedicated certified Special Education Teacher for the 2026-27 school year to be the director for the Work Experience Program (WEP). This unique program serves students with Individual Education Plans (IEP) from SRTC’s consortium sending school area.
This candidate will coordinate all aspects of the program which includes collaboration with area special education teachers, adminstrators, and counselors, work with area businesses and schools for student job placements, job coaching and supervising students placed in work sites. The students meet weekly for classroom instruction for work and professional skills. Working with students, parents and outside organizations to develop transition plans for WEP students is an essential component of this position. This instructor will follow all IDEA guidelines, attend IEP meetings at sending schools, and work closely with our sending schools. The instructor will work with a full-time assistant who will be involved with all aspects of the program.
Additional responsibilities include transporting students to and from work place sites in district and/or personal vehicle and participation in various evening activities at SRTC. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are critical. Professionalism, effective interpersonal skills and community involvement are essential.
