The Role

As a Family Law Attorney with Scott M. Brown & Associates, you will manage a caseload involving divorce, child custody, child support, adoption, modifications, enforcement matters, and other related family law issues.

You will meet with clients, assess their legal needs, explain options clearly, and develop case strategies that align with each client’s goals. You will draft and review pleadings, motions, agreements, discovery, and other legal documents. You will conduct discovery, prepare witnesses, take and defend depositions, negotiate settlements, and appear in court.

You will work closely with legal support staff and firm leadership to ensure cases are handled with urgency, accuracy, compassion, and professionalism.

This role requires someone who understands that family law is not just about files, deadlines, and hearings. It is about people, families, children, futures, and trust.

What You Will Do

Represent clients in family law matters with professionalism, preparation, and care.

Manage cases involving divorce, custody, support, adoption, modifications, enforcement, and related family law matters.

Meet with clients, conduct case assessments, and provide clear legal guidance.

Develop case strategies aligned with client goals and legal realities.

Draft, review, and argue pleadings, motions, agreements, and other legal documents.

Prepare for and conduct depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials.

Negotiate settlements with confidence, professionalism, and good judgment.

Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and leadership to move cases forward.

Maintain accurate, timely case records and client communications.

Participate in a culture of accountability, learning, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

Active license in good standing with the State Bar of Texas, or eligibility to obtain licensure.

Experience handling family law matters, including divorce, custody, support, and related issues.

Strong ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical guidance to clients.

Experience drafting and arguing motions, including pre-trial and post-judgment filings.

Experience preparing for and conducting depositions, including examination of parties, experts, and witnesses.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong negotiation, advocacy, and courtroom skills.

High level of professionalism, discretion, and ethical judgment.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and client expectations.

Commitment to client-centered service, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
