2 Years As A Generalist In A Hospital Laboratory (Preferred) ASCP Registration (preferred) Equipment (Experience And/Or Training) •As Obtained In Mlt Program. •Extensive Knowledge Of Laboratory Instrumentation (Preferred) Computer Skills (Hardware & Software) •Experience With Computer Keyboards •Knowledge Of Epic Ehr System. (Preferred) Other Skills And Competencies •Demonstrates Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal. •Diplomacy, Tact, And A Positive Approach To Problem Solving Are Required To Be Successful. •Organizational Skills Are A Must. •Fosters A Teamwork Environment. •Must Be Able To Communicate With Patients, Customers, Other Departments, And Staff In An Articulate Manner. •Excellent Critical Thinking Skills.

Job Description:

1.Exhibits ability to perform duties assigned in Chemistry, Toxicology, Microbiology, Hematology, Coagulation, Serology, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, Specimen collection, and Specimen send-outs. 2.Exhibits ability to work well with computer systems as required for laboratory processes/workflows. Reads emails and new policies and procedures in a timely manner and responds appropriately. 3.Exhibits the ability to organize and plan work, as well as the ability to make decisions with independent judgment, including calling critical values to appropriate provider and documenting "read back" actions in the electronic health record. 4.Exhibits effective comunication skills - writing, listening, reading and talking - so that misinterpretation of test results, reports, records, and/or instructions will not occur. 5.Performs duties free of errors by carefully following all protocols including continuous review of the EHR to ensure completion of all tests in a timely manner. 6.Operates equipment (including maintenance and troubleshooting) according to Laboratory and manufacturer protocol and documents in appropriate manuals. 7.Notifies Patient Care Areas in cases of instrument down time in a timely manner. 8.Exhibits knowledge of the quality control program for each instrument and test and complies with all requirements. 9.Exhibits knowledge of instrument reagent and supply requirements and uses reagents and supplies economically and according to manufacturer's specifications. 10.Actively participates in inventory control. Notifies Section Leader and/or Chief Technologist when inventory supplies fall below two week supply level or when opening the last kit. 11.Maintains passing grades on all competency & proficiency tests. 12.Exhibits familiarity with Corporate and Laboratory Compliance Plan and adheres to compliance intent. 13.Age Specific Competency: Staff member will have knowledge of human growth and development through the life span of the patient and have the ability to meet the needs of and provide the care to these patients. The age categories to be included are: Neonatal/infant 0 - 11 months; Pediatrics 1 - 12 years; Adolescence 13 - 17 years; Young adult/adult 18 - 64 years; Adult/middle-age 65 - 79 years; Geriatric 80 years. 14.Notifies Section leaders, Chief Technologist, Laboratory Director, and/or Pathologist of unresolved problems in a timely manner. 15.Performs other job related duties as assigned.
