Role Requirements:
- CDA (Child Development Associate), Associate's Degree (AA), or passing score on the ParaPro Assessment required. Or equivalent number of units – ie. 2 years of college
- CPR Certification highly preferred
- Passion for education and putting students first
- An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be
- Three professional references, including at least one from a previous supervisor
- State & federal background checks
- TB risk assessment or test
You'll Stand Out If You Have:
- Experience working with students with Special Education needs
- Time spent in Special Education or inclusive classroom settings
- ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) experience
- Experience working in K-12 schools
- Experience supporting students with moderate to severe needs
What You'll Do:
- Work closely with students with special needs in small group and 1-1 settings. Students range from TK to 12 and have significant learning and behavioral needs.
- Support resource teacher(s) in delivering IEPs (individual education plans)
- Take direction from lead educators and assist when needed
- Build rapport and trust with the children in your care
- Support students with personal care responsibilities — including toileting and/or diapering
- Foster a safe and nurturing learning environment
- De-escalate challenging or aggressive behaviors; comfort and experience in these settings is a plus
- Step in to support lead teachers when unavailable or absent
- Sitting, standing, and walking required; must be able to lift up to 30 lbs while safely assisting students
- Observe and communicate across varied environments, including indoor and outdoor settings
- Additional role requirements will be in the handbook and shared during the interview process
