What are the responsibilities and job description for the DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (OPWDD) position at SCO Family of Services?
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide care, supervision, and support to individuals with developmental disabilities and/or traumatic brain injuries. The DSP helps individuals achieve greater independence, participate in community activities, and maintain their health, safety, and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, personal care, and life skills development.
- Administer medications in accordance with regulations and agency procedures (AMAP certification required).
- Transport individuals to medical appointments, programs, recreational activities, and community outings.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
- Ensure individuals participate in meaningful daily activities.
- Provide supervision and support in accordance with individualized care plans.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment.
- Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and maintain required certifications.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid NYS Driver's License Required.
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or traumatic brain injuries preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain SCIP-R and AMAP certifications.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
