SCM Group North America, a leader in industrial woodworking machinery, has multiple open opportunities in Technical Field Sales throughout the United States. Current and anticipated openings may support territories in the Northwest, Northeast/New England, Southeast, Texas, Mid-Atlantic, and other regions as business needs evolve.
Our Sales Engineers use their technical expertise in CNC machinery to expand market presence and generate new business within a defined territory. This role is for a true hunter—someone who thrives on prospecting, turning leads into sales, and building customer relationships.
This is an ideal opportunity for a person with a background in CNC machinery, woodworking equipment, or other high-tech capital equipment looking to expand their career in sales.
This is a home-based position requiring regular travel within an assigned territory. Candidates should reside within the territory they support or near a major airport to facilitate efficient travel.
Compensation
Base ($50,000 - $80,000 range DOE) strong opportunity to earn uncapped commissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect and develop new business within assigned territory
- Visit customers and prospects to identify needs and opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships with end users, dealers, and distributors
- Support dealers in driving sales execution and expanding market reach
- Identify, qualify, and advance opportunities through the full sales cycle
- Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to support solution development
- Present and demonstrate equipment and technical capabilities to customers
- Lead commercial discussions, negotiate, and close sales
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date activity in CRM system
- Monitor market trends, competitors, and customer needs
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in capital equipment, CNC machinery, or industrial equipment, including at least 1 year of sales experience
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Sales-oriented personality with a proactive, consultative approach to selling
- Hunter mentality with demonstrated skills in prospecting, lead development, and solution selling
- Strong mechanical, technical, or engineering aptitude
- Ability to work independently in a field-based role with regular travel throughout the assigned territory. Some international travel may also be required
