What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nanoparticle Production Scientist position at Scismic?
Scismic is supporting an exciting company looking for a hands-on scientist or engineer to support the manufacturing of SPIONs used in regulated applications. This role focuses on nanoparticle synthesis, surface modification, and maintaining high-quality, reproducible production within a GMP environment.
What You’ll Do
- Perform iron oxide nanoparticle formation using controlled solution chemistry and inert-gas reaction conditions.
- Apply stabilizing surface coatings and manage colloidal behavior.
- Run end-to-end batch production using reactors, separation systems, and analytical tools.
- Evaluate particle size, charge, coating integrity, and magnetic response.
- Maintain accurate documentation and collaborate with QA, Operations, and Engineering.
- Support scale-up efforts and mentor junior team members.
What You Bring
- Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Direct experience synthesizing iron-oxide or similar nanoparticles.
- Knowledge of colloid stability, surface chemistry, and dispersion.
- Familiarity with GMP or other regulated manufacturing environments.
- Experience with nanoparticle characterization (e.g., DLS, zeta potential, ICP).
Location: On-site in Wilmington, DE (lab cleanroom).
