Research Associate

SciPro is working with a drug discovery and development company looking for a Research Associate to join their team on a contract basis. Our client is developing a portfolio of drugs for rare diseases via modulation of protein activity. They have a robust discovery engine with human genetics and drug discovery expertise.

This candidate would report to the Associate Director, be responsible for supporting internal cell culture maintenance, assisting with routine assays testing, data reporting, and other lab operations within the Pharmacology Department. More details below:

You will be responsible for:

• Supporting maintenance of multiple cell lines simultaneously that require individualized conditions for proper maintenance
• Supporting the Pharmacology Department by aiding Scientists with weekly screening assays, including cell plating, assay setup, compound preparation, data analysis, and data uploads.
• Contributing to the maintenance and inventory of the biology laboratory

You have the following skills and qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or Master’s degree (M.S.) in life sciences such as cell biology, molecular biology, pharmacology, or other closely related scientific areas
• 2 to 5 years of industry experience in tissue culture and plate-based assays; FLIPR experience preferred but not required
• Ability to culture multiple immortalized cell lines (HEK293, CHO) simultaneously
• Experience with multi-channel pipetting and cell seeding for is required
• Familiarity with inhibition dose-response relationships and graphing software is highly desired
• Experience in lipid-based or electroporation transfections a plus
• Experience with automated liquid handlers a plus
• Strong ability and willingness to learn new skills and techniques
• Ability to perform routine work following SOPs with some supervision
• Detail-oriented and highly organized

On-site in San Diego, CA; 40 hrs/wk; 6-month initial contract
