Scion Executive Search has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for an experienced VP of Investment for our client, a growth-oriented investment firm committed to backing high-potential companies with strategic capital, deep market insight, and long-term partnership. We’re looking for an individual with analytical rigor and the entrepreneurial energy and initiative to build processes and frameworks in a growing investment function.
The VP of Investment works collaboratively with a fast-paced investment team of five as an individual contributor that’s focused on sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, and closing growth-stage investment opportunities. You’ll play a central role in shaping deal strategy from end-to-end, driving execution, and enhancing long-term value creation across the investment portfolio.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deal Origination & Pipeline Development
- Proactively source and qualify investment opportunities in target sectors through industry research, networking with advisors/intermediaries, and direct outreach.
- Build and maintain relationships with founders, investment banks, brokers, and key sector players to expand the firm’s deal flow.
Investment Evaluation & Execution
- Lead detailed financial analysis, valuation modeling, and investment theses for new opportunities.
- Manage due diligence processes across commercial, financial, legal, operational, and market risk dimensions.
- Prepare investment memoranda, term sheets, and recommendation materials for internal review and approval.
- Negotiate key commercial and structural deal terms with counterparties and advisors.
Deal Leadership & Closing
- Serve as the primary deal lead and quarterback for each transaction—from screening through execution.
- Coordinate internal and external stakeholders (lawyers, accountants, consultants) to ensure efficient deal progression.
- Collaborate with portfolio support teams to plan and execute integration and value-creation strategies where appropriate.
Portfolio & Relationship Management
- Track performance of investments and help develop strategic plans with portfolio leadership.
- Support ongoing reporting and review processes with investment committees and key stakeholders.
- Engage management teams of portfolio companies where needed to support growth and strategic alignment.
Team Collaboration & Leadership
- Work closely with the existing investment team to share insights and ensure consistency of investment rigor.
- Mentor and guide more junior analysts or associates as opportunities arise.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 years of relevant investment experience (e.g., growth equity, private equity, investment banking, strategy consulting, corporate development).
- Proven track record of leading aspects of investment deals from evaluation to closing.
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical capability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate confidently with founders, intermediaries, and internal stakeholders.
- Comfortable owning deals and driving work independently while collaborating with a small team.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
In addition to offering a competitive salary in the range of $150,000 to $190,000 plus bonus, this opportunity provides excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with 4% company match; and 10 days of paid vacation, 5 sick days, and 8 observed holidays.
