POSITION: Laboratory Products Sales Representative Greater Philadelphia Area
JOB DESCRIPTION: This is a full time (40 hours per week) position working in primarily outside sales activities.
Our core markets are industrial laboratories which are in the mid-Atlantic region of the U.S. The successful candidate will utilize a variety of marketing and sales techniques to solicit SECO’s products and services to companies within the established territory and within the core markets.
You will establish professional relationships with both end users in the laboratories and purchasing decision makers. The sales objective is to convert a prospective customer’s routine lab product purchases to SECO while also being the primary supplier for infrequently ordered products such as lab equipment. At established customer accounts you will act to maintain and enhance the existing business activity. New business development will require 45% of the position’s time while maintaining existing accounts will be 45%. You will start out with approximately 25 accounts already doing business with the company. The balance of the 10% of time will be working with members of the SECO team to further enhance our competitiveness.
The position entails providing some minimal level of technical support. The ability to demonstrate the use of basic lab equipment is very beneficial but not required. From time to time you will work alongside manufacturer’s sales representatives (our suppliers) while visiting existing or prospective SECO accounts. . Product training and career development training will be provided periodically. Training will be provided for our procedures and computer systems.
This position is for the greater Philadelphia area territory. Travel is daily trips by car and rarely involves an overnight stay. The company will re-reimburse you for use of your personal car.
Compensation will be through a combination of salary as well as commission. The company has a 401K retirement plan as well as reputable health and dental insurance programs.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in chemistry or closely related science field and have worked in a laboratory. In addition, the ideal candidate will have 2 years or more of a successful sales experience. A demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both orally and through written means in a clear, concise, and grammatically correct manner is paramount along with a comfort level with technology.
