As a Tool Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical health and performance of our diverse MEMS fabrication toolset. You will serve as the primary expert for tool installation, optimization, and high-level troubleshooting. This role is ideal for a versatile engineer who enjoys working across a broad range of technologies and thrives on ensuring high-precision systems operate at peak efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Optimization: Oversee the performance of a wide-ranging equipment portfolio, including Photolithography, Etch (DRIE), Thin Film Deposition (PVD/CVD), and Metrology systems.
  • Technical Leadership: Lead complex repairs and equipment upgrades, ensuring all tools meet the rigorous specifications required for MEMS production.
  • Proactive Maintenance: Design and implement data-driven Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs to maximize tool availability and minimize unscheduled downtime.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and execute hardware enhancements and retrofits to improve process stability, safety, and throughput.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Process and Product Engineering teams to qualify new tools and optimize existing hardware for evolving project requirements.
  • Documentation: Maintain precise records of tool history, schematics, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Required Qualifications

  • Education: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Technical Expertise: Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in a semiconductor or MEMS cleanroom environment.
  • System Knowledge: Strong proficiency in vacuum technology, RF power systems, precision motion control, and electronics troubleshooting.
  • Adaptability: Proven ability to master diverse equipment platforms and navigate complex technical challenges with minimal supervision.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with industry-standard platforms (e.g., SPTS, EVG, SUSS, Lam Research, Plasma-Therm etc).
  • Strong vendor management and spare parts inventory strategy experience.
