What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Education Teacher position at Science Academy of Chicago?
We are currently looking for a well-qualified Physical Education Instructor
for the upcoming school year.
Elementary PE Teacher
- Motivates each student to cultivate physical fitness, hygienic habits, and good social and emotional adjustment
- Design lessons that develop talents of students in physical achievement
- Develop strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual, and team physical activities and sports, in accordance with each student's ability
- Promote teamwork so that students learn the value of being on a team
- Create a developmentally appropriate, positive, inclusive and safe learning environment
- Monitor progress to ensure all students are demonstrating high rates of growth
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
- Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse social-emotional, cultural, economic and ability backgrounds
- Work closely with team members and parents to best meet the needs to students
- Coach and supervise school athletic teams, developing students’ sport-specific skills, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship while ensuring safe training and competition practices
Requirements: Bachelor's Degree, Illinois Professional Educators License Endorsement in the content area (preferred)
