What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academic Intervention Specialist ***Immediate Opening position at Science Academies of NY?
SANY’s Citizenship & Science Academy Elementary is excited to announce the opening of an Academic Intervention Specialist role for the 2024-2025 academic year. We have a great environment for new teachers and encourage experienced teachers to apply! New York State Certification Required.
As an Academic Intervention Specialist, you will:
- Assist with preparation and instruction - (Math, ELA, Science, Social Studies)
- Work closely with small groups of students and provide intervention - Tier 2 and 3 Interventions
- Actively participate in weekly meetings and attend all school-wide events
- Share data collected with stakeholders (classroom teacher, parents)
- Implement classroom policies and procedures
- Lead students to and from specials/lunch
- Effectively manage student behavior
- Follow Response to Intervention (RTI) process (i.e. administering researched based interventions, progress monitoring)
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree preferred
- Certification Required
- Experience with diverse population of students or in an urban setting a plus
- Prior teaching experience preferred and novice teachers encouraged to apply!
- Fingerprint clearance through NYS Department of Education
