Company and Position Summary

 

South Central Indiana REMC (SCI REMC) is seeking candidates for a key leadership position in Fiber Network Engineering. SCI REMC is one of the larger not-for-profit electric and fiber distribution cooperative in Indiana and a leader in innovative technology.  The cooperative focuses on providing safe, reliable, cost-effective electricity and fiber solutions to its members in seven counties in south central Indiana.

 

The cooperative is headquartered in a new, progressive facility in Martinsville, Indiana located just 30 minutes south of the Indianapolis airport and 15 minutes north of Bloomington, Indiana off of I-69.  SCI REMC serves 3,922 miles of energized lines with over 29,800 electric members and over 11,000 residential fiber subscribers.  SCI REMC employs 150 highly valued, member-focused team members. The Fiber Division of SCI REMC offers high-speed, quality broadband services to homes and businesses plus fiber transport systems to ensure a reliable network service with a high level of member/subscriber experience satisfaction.

 

This is a critical role. The ideal candidate for Manager, Fiber Operations will be a mentoring leader with strong initiative and a sense of urgency, solid technical expertise, keen attention to detail, and a passionate focus on customer and member relationships — all while being a collaborative team player.



Key Position’s Responsibilities



  • Cultivates a culture of excellence for all areas and directs the Fiber Design Operations, Installation and Maintenance function. This position is responsible for communication with members, construction, installation and maintenance standards and processes for all areas of Fiber operations. Mentor Team leaders and personnel to ensure consistent, member-focused, cost-effective, and efficient procedures are in place and followed.



  • Design and execute efficient processes and design standards throughout the fiber operations business unit and establish a consistent follow-up mechanism to ensure installation and records compliance as well as process improvement.



  • Performs project management, as needed to ensure consistent follow-through from sales to installation.



  • Oversees, directs and managers all areas of OSP for reliability and capacity needs of the Fiber division. Creates a review process to ensure improved processes are followed for continuous process improvement.
  • Coordinates and directs the activities of all levels of project delivery teams. Exchanges ideas, information, and opinions with key players to arrive at decisions, conclusions, solutions, or solve disputes. This position is a cooperative-wide recognized fiber expert and leader.

EDUCATION:

 

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience required. Advanced degree, preferred

                              

EXPERIENCE:

 

Minimum 5 years of experience in OSP design, fiber construction, project management, and/or leadership role with process improvement responsibility. Experience with technical alternatives and basic knowledge of emerging technologies. Working knowledge of telecom construction, installation, and maintenance. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Proven track record leading team members to success.
  • Requires well-developed communication skills and the ability to maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with company leadership and teams.
  • Must have excellent decision-making, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Telecom fiber construction and maintenance, fiber splicing and fiber asset management software.
  • Must exhibit creativity and innovation in system solutions; must be broadly focused and able to manage multiple efforts concurrently.
  • Knowledge and ability to grasp new concepts or processes quickly, offer leadership to identify improvement and continually unsure new, improved processes are being followed.
  • Self-motivated to take ownership of assigned deliverables to meet deadlines with a strong work ethic and a desire to lead a team to meet and exceed personal and business goals.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to innovative technologies and methodologies. Must be able to think outside-of-the box and exercise innovation.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Willing to learn and abide by the REMC’s ethics policies and be a professional and ethical representative.
  • Must have the ability to communicate patiently, respectfully, and effectively with all levels of people internally as well as externally.
  • Must be willing and able to lead and/or assist during fiber outages or major storms, as needed.
  • Maintain a valid Indiana Vehicle Operator’s License
  • Must be regular in work attendance.
