Job Responsibilities
- Location: Somerville, MA (On-site)
- Schedule: Part-time, 20 hours per week (Monday-Friday, fixed daily 4-hour shifts)
- Duration: Late September through mid-December 2026
- Compensation: $30.00 / hour, plus a $2,000 completion/performance incentive
Job Responsibilities
- Independently execute and manage DNA assembly and molecular cloning projects.
- Design oligonucleotides, gene fragments, and PCR primers.
- Perform routine bench techniques including PCR amplification, gel electrophoresis, and DNA purification.
- Interpret sequencing results and troubleshoot experimental anomalies.
- Maintain organized digital records and workflow tracking using tools like Benchling.
- Utilize advanced computational platforms and AI-assisted tools to refine experimental design and problem-solving.
- Manage project-related lab resources and ensure adherence to standard safety and laboratory protocols.
- Education: Currently pursuing or holding a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Molecular Biology, Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 months of direct, hands-on molecular biology laboratory research.
- Core Competencies:
- Proficiency in PCR techniques, gel electrophoresis, and standard cloning methods.
- Practical understanding of primer design and sequence verification.
- Comfort navigating molecular biology software platforms (e.g., Benchling).
- Demonstrated ability to work self-sufficiently, manage time effectively, and troubleshoot protocols.
- Excellent attention to detail and sound documentation practices.
