We are seeking a highly meticulous and licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) for a 12-month contract role based entirely onsite at a state-of-the-art diagnostic facility in San Diego, CA. Operating on a dedicated second shift (Tuesday through Saturday, 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM), the successful candidate will perform high-complexity molecular and genomic testing on clinical specimens. Compensation: $50.00 – $55.00 per hour

Job Responsibilities
- High-Complexity Diagnostics: Run specialized molecular genetic assays on patient samples following precise laboratory protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Quality Management: Implement, review, and thoroughly document daily quality control and assurance measures to maintain strict laboratory standard compliance.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Autonomously identify and resolve basic mechanical, reagent, or assay inconsistencies that could influence test accuracy, documenting all corrective actions taken.
- Reagent Verification: Prepare necessary laboratory solutions, standards, and reagents required for diagnostic test execution.
- Regulatory Alignment: Execute all work in strict compliance with local, state, and federal requirements, and actively participate in standard laboratory inspections.
- Validation Support: Assist leadership with ongoing laboratory research projects, instrument validation studies, and required proficiency testing matrices.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with laboratory colleagues and supervisors to manage shifting production schedules and miscellaneous bench-specific tasks.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Mandatory Licensure: Must hold a valid, active Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or Clinical Genetic Molecular Biology Scientist (CGMBS) license issued by the California Department of Public Health (No exceptions).
- Testing Experience: Proven hands-on background in high-complexity clinical testing, with a strong preference for candidates focused on molecular diagnostics.
- Preferred Tech Stack: Direct experience executing molecular methodologies such as PCR/qPCR, Microarrays, Sanger Sequencing, or Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) is highly advantageous.
- Analytical Aptitude: Sharp problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities, with an acute eye for detail and data integrity.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills alongside comfortable interpersonal teamwork traits.
- Technical & Soft Skills: Highly proficient with diverse software platforms and laboratory information systems (LIS); capable of adapting seamlessly to a rapid work pace.
- Credential Upkeep: Maintenance of all required continuing education units (CEUs) to satisfy California and New York State Department of Health licensure rules.
- Physical Expectations: Ability to handle repetitive hand/arm movements, sit or stand for extended periods, and occasionally lift laboratory materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
