CDL A Owner Operator Truck Driver | Regional Pneumatic Freight | $4,000-$8,000 Gross Weekly FSC

Schwend Inc. is hiring experienced CDL A Owner Operator Truck Drivers to haul pneumatic dry bulk freight throughout the Southeast. Choose the program that fits your operation: bring your truck and pneumatic trailer, or bring your truck and pull a Schwend trailer.
Schwend is a family-owned and operated carrier serving customers since 1976, with terminals in Dade City and Tampa, FL; Jasper, TN; and Elko, GA.
Owner Operator Pay

• 90% of linehaul 100% of fuel surcharge when operating under Schwend authority with your truck and pneumatic trailer
• $5,000-$8,000 gross weekly to the truck FSC with your trailer
• 72% of linehaul 100% of fuel surcharge when operating under Schwend authority with your truck and a Schwend pneumatic trailer
• $4,000-$6,000 gross weekly to the truck FSC with a Schwend trailer
• Weekly settlements; pay week runs Sunday through Saturday

Route & Schedule

• Regional freight throughout the Southeast
• Typically out Monday-Friday and home most weekends
• Dispatch works to provide approximately 48 hours at home whenever customer needs allow
• Occasional Saturday returns, weekend work, or Sunday departures
• Haul calcium, salt, phosphate, and other dry bulk products for dedicated customers

Truck, Blower & Trailer Requirements

• Truck wheelbase must be less than 260 inches - non-negotiable
• Truck must weigh less than 19,000 pounds with driver and fuel
• Owner Operator must supply a blower/PTO setup equal to or more powerful than a Gardner Denver 12L; Schwend does not provide the blower or PTO
• Owner-supplied trailer must be a dry bulk pneumatic tank with 1,600 cubic feet or greater capacity
• Owner Operator is responsible for apportioned plates and Form 2290

What the Work Involves
This CDL A Owner Operator Truck Driver position is hands-on. Drivers connect hoses and use air pressure to unload into silos, water pits, or ground pits. Most loads are blown off rather than bottom-dropped.

• Open and close top trailer lids and work around pneumatic tanks
• Handle hoses, fittings, valves, and adapters
• Lift up to 75 pounds
• Work outdoors in heat, rain, dust, and other changing conditions
• Expect physical work - this is not a dock-bumping position

Required Insurance

• Auto liability: $130 per week through Schwend
• Bobtail coverage: $7.38 per week through Schwend, or provide proof of your own coverage
• Occupational accident: $33.75 per week through Schwend
• Optional rider policy: $106 annually; passenger must be at least 10 years old
• Optional physical damage coverage is available for the truck and/or trailer

Required Safety Gear & Supplies
Keep the following items in your truck at all times:

• Working CB radio and hands-free headset
• Steel-toe shoes, hard hat, safety vest, gloves, hearing protection, safety glasses, harness, and tether
• Basic tool kit, garbage bags, and personal road supplies
