We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Engineering – Power System Automation to join our Engineering Services team. As a Project Engineer - Automation, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and optimizing automation solutions for power systems. Your expertise will contribute to the efficient and reliable operation of electrical infrastructure, ensuring the delivery of power to customers without interruptions or failures.
As a Project Engineer, a typical day might include the following:
- Develop and maintain a proficient level of expertise in the detail design practices of SEL protection and automation systems.
- Design and configure automation systems, including automation controllers, communication networks, Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and security gateways.
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of automation solutions to ensure proper functionality, accuracy, and compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze power system requirements and develop automation solutions that align with customer needs.
- Provide training and assistance to customers in the installation, commissioning, and operation of automation and protection systems, both on-site and remotely.
This job might be for you if you have:
- A minimum of an associate degree in electrical engineering technology or an equivalent certification/training is recommended.
- 1 years of experience in electrical power system or industrial automation systems.
- Willingness to travel 20-50%.
- Proficiency in Human-Machine Interface (HMI) systems and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
- Working knowledge of electric power systems, protection, relaying applications, integration, and automation applications.
- Motivation to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with electric power transmission, distribution, and/or generation systems.
- Understanding of substation equipment and electrical switchgear.
- Familiarity with SEL products and technologies, such as RTACs, SEL relays, etc.
- Experience in designing cabinets, racks, or panels for equipment integration using AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Bluebeam.
- Understanding and deployment of industry-standard protocols, such as Modbus, DNP3, IEC-61850 GOOSE, MMS.
- Experience in industrial and/or power system integration, automation, industrial controls, and/or PLCs.

Pay Range Data
Project Engineer I - $100,000- $144,460.
We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more experience and the salary range may differ if filled at a different level. Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
