We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fiber Optic Installer to join our dynamic telecommunications team. Duties
- Install fiber optic cables in various environments, including underground, aerial, and inside buildings, following safety protocols and industry standards
- Perform fiber splicing using specialized tools and techniques to connect fibers with precision and ensure optimal signal transmission
- Conduct network installation tasks involving Ethernet, telephony systems, and low voltage cabling to support comprehensive communication networks
- Use hand tools such as cable pullers, crimpers, and ohmmeters to prepare cables and troubleshoot electrical issues
- Connect and configure Cisco routers and other networking equipment to establish reliable data pathways
- Perform routine maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of fiber optic systems using testing devices like OTDRs (Optical Time Domain Reflectometers) and electrical testers
- Document installation processes, test results, and system configurations accurately for project records and quality assurance
Experience
- Proven experience as a service technician or field technician within telecommunication or networking industries
- Hands-on knowledge of fiber splicing techniques and network installation procedures
- Familiarity with Cisco routers, Ethernet cabling, telephony systems, and low voltage wiring
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to use various hand tools safely and effectively
- Electrical experience including troubleshooting circuits with ohmmeters or similar testing devices
- Strong understanding of telecommunication standards, cabling practices, and mechanical knowledge related to network infrastructure
- Prior field service experience working on telecommunication projects or similar environments is highly desirable
