Job Summary:
The Membership Director is responsible for the recruitment, enrollment, and retention of members across all categories at Schuylkill Country Club. This position plays a key role in promoting the Club’s culture and community, requiring exceptional communication skills and a creative, strategic approach to both internal and external marketing. The Membership Director will develop, market, and implement programs, initiatives, and activities designed to attract new members, enhance member engagement, and strengthen retention. This role also serves as a primary representative of the Club in building relationships with prospective members and external partners, ensuring a welcoming and dynamic membership experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Plan and implement strategies to meet membership goals
· Develop a marketing plan to Identify leads and enroll new members into the Club
· Conduct tours of the club for prospective members and guests
· Develop and implement strategies to upgrade existing members to higher dues-paying categories
· Encourage active members to make personal referrals and assist with recruitment efforts
· Create and manage membership loyalty programs and retention initiatives
· Develop and coordinate relevant and engaging member events and experiences
· Communicate with members consistently through all available channels (email, website, newsletter, Facebook, Instagram, social media, etc.)
· Oversee updates to the club website and membership materials
· Develop and conduct a comprehensive new member orientation program
· Maintain the club’s membership database and member files accurately
· Track, evaluate, and report on the success of all membership activities
· Prepare membership reports and contribute membership-related content to the club newsletter
· Take photographs/videos of golf and social club events for marketing and communications
· Maintain a file of club history and membership information
· Be present during club operating hours and events to greet and engage with members and guests
· Serve on applicable committees to ensure member interests are represented
· Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments and staff members
· Benchmark other clubs and research best practices for membership recruitment and retention
· Perform other duties and special projects as directed by the General Manager
Experience Needed
- 3–5 years of experience in membership sales, hospitality, marketing, or customer-facing roles; experience in the private club, resort, or luxury hospitality industry is a plus
- Proven success in relationship-based sales, lead generation, and conversion
- Demonstrated experience creating and executing membership or customer engagement programs
- Strong background in digital marketing, including social media management, email campaigns, and basic website/content updates
- Experience using membership management software, tracking leads, and producing reports
- Prior experience planning or supporting member or customer events
- Track record of cross-department collaboration and working in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong organization and follow-through
- Professional communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience creating customer-facing materials
- Flexible schedule with availability for evenings, weekends, and club events
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
