SUMMARY
The General Manager directs production, distribution, and marketing operations for Schupan Iowa by managing five (direct) reports and indirectly managing twenty-five employees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Coordinates production, distribution, warehousing, and sales in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures.
- Confers with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services in the area.
- Develop plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
- Reviews production costs and product quality and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance the profitable operation of the division.
- Reviews operations of competing organizations and plans and directs sales program to develop new markets.
- Determines responsibilities of assigned organization and staff positions to accomplish business objectives.
- Manage customer and vendor contracts to increase financial performance of the site.
- Directs preparation of accounting records and full P&L responsibility.
- Legislative representation for the organization and policy awareness.
- Must be able to handle stressful situations.
- Must be able to interact with individuals in person, on a regular and ongoing basis.
- Travel up to 25% within Iowa, occasional travel out of state required for conventions, meetings, and/or training. Must be willing and capable of traveling by air, rail, or car; the most cost-effective and timely method.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree or equivalent; or six to ten (6-10) years related experience and/or training. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Possess and apply knowledge of contract management systems, database software, HRIS, internet software, and order processing systems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
