The Opportunity
We have an opening for a 1st shift experienced Mechanical Assembler who will assemble, build, and refurbish pantographs for the transit industry. A pantograph is a large transit assembly used to collect electrical current for electric trains, trolleys, subway cars and battery powered vehicles such as e-buses. Pantograph manufacturing requires close tolerances, strict quality inspection, skilled fitting of parts using a variety of power tools, air tools and basic machine shop equipment. This is an expanding area of our Company and offers a unique opportunity to be part of the technology behind the growing movement toward electric-powered mass transit systems.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in mechanical assembly of large products or similar trade.
- Prefer some formal certification or a relevant technical degree.
- Self-motivated able to work unsupervised.
- Able to read and interpret mechanical assembly and electrical prints.
- Experience assembling using pneumatic and general power tools.
- Experience with electric powered products
- Able to lift up to 70 pounds if required.
- Able to read and understand measuring devices such as a torque wrench and caliper.
- Experience in using a manual mill is preferred.
- Open to minimal traveling to larger cities to work with customers and perform field maintenance.
Essential Job Functions (Job-Specific Knowledge/Skills)
- Build electric and pneumatic pantographs along with their sub-assemblies.
- Perform and document all requested quality testing and measurements.
- Meet strict quality standards and build specifications.
- Diligently follow a production schedule while responding effectively to schedule changes.
- Interact with customers pertaining to pantograph questions or issues.
