Position Description:
Ensure daily shipments and pick-ups are on time.
Regularly communicate with Managers on trucking arrangements and shipping status including when the destination is reached.
Help organize and handle all in-bound freight.
Responsible for making sure all loads are secure before leaving the building.
Make arrangements to outsource shipping when appropriate.
Ensure fleet vehicles are properly maintained and inspected regularly.
Proactively plan resources by forecasting future shipments and pickups.
Assist with loading and unloading shipments.
Properly follow all processes and procedures outlined by the process flow and quality manual, otherwise known as the Do's & Don't's of the Shipping & Receiving Department.
Effectively manage staging areas and departmental organization.
Always keep your immediate work area clean and standardized as well as all staging areas.
Generate and maintain a Cleaning & Maintenance Schedule for Fleet of Company Used Vehicles.
Tasks:
Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials.
Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
Confer or correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications.
Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
Examine shipment contents and compare with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy.
Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter.
Deliver or route materials to departments using handtruck, conveyor, or sorting bins.
Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be shipped.
Requirements: Needed Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
• High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
Knowledge:
• Clerical - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology.
• English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
