The Plumber (Master or Journeyman licenses welcome to apply) serves as one of the organization's licensed plumbing experts, responsible for overseeing and performing the full scope of plumbing installation, repair, maintenance, and inspection across residential and commercial projects. This role provides technical leadership to the plumbing team, ensures code compliance, and supports successful project delivery through quality workmanship and clear communication with customers and project stake holders.

Location: Field-based role, occasional reporting to the main office/warehouse in Mankato, MN as required.

FLSA Status: Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties)

Plumbing Installation & Project Execution

• Install, repair, and maintain residential and commercial plumbing systems, performing work from rough-in through finish in accordance with project schedules and quality standards.
• Read and interpret construction documents to determine installation requirements and methods.
• Troubleshoot plumbing issues promptly, coordinating with other trades to keep projects on schedule and verifying completed work meets quality expectations.

Code Compliance & Technical Expertise

• Maintain active Journeyman or Master Plumber licensure and serve as the qualifying licensed professional for applicable projects, ensuring all work complies with Minnesota Plumbing Code and applicable regulations.
• Coordinate required inspections, address any corrective actions identified, and assist with permitting and project documentation.
• Stay current on code changes and industry standards relevant to residential and commercial plumbing work.

Leadership & Team Development

• Provide day-to-day technical guidance and mentorship to apprentice and journeyman plumbers, assigning work and monitoring progress to ensure efficient project execution.
• Support onboarding of new team members and keep ownership and project leadership informed of progress, resource needs, and challenges.
• Lead by example through consistent demonstration of safe work practices and quality craftsmanship.

Customer & Project Communication

• Communicate professionally with customers, inspectors, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle, explaining recommendations clearly and addressing questions with a high level of responsiveness.
• Coordinate material procurement needs and flag scope changes that may affect timelines or costs.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations, ensure proper PPE use by self and team members, and proactively identify and communicate job site hazards.
• Participate in required safety training and certifications, and maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in safe working condition.

Qualifications

• Active Minnesota Journeyman License required, Master Plumber License preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of plumbing experience, with supervisory experience preferred.
• Thorough working knowledge of residential and commercial plumbing systems and Minnesota code requirements, including the ability to read and interpret construction documents.
• Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills with the ability to lead and develop team members.
• Professional communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and ability to travel to project sites throughout Southern Minnesota.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to regularly lift and move materials up to 75 pounds and to perform physically demanding work over the course of a full shift, including climbing and working in confined or elevated spaces.
• Ability to work in varying outdoor weather conditions and safely operate tools, equipment, and company vehicles.
