What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Instructor of Computer Science position at Schreiner University?
The Department of Computer Science at Schreiner University seeks qualified individuals to serve as Adjunct Instructors for undergraduate classes including, but not limited to:
- Teach introductory or advanced Computer Science courses in areas aligned with departmental needs and instructor expertise.
- Prepare and deliver course content that supports program learning goals and SACSCOC and ABET expectations, including clear syllabi, assignments, assessments, and grading.
- Evaluate and document Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) each semester using department-provided rubrics and reporting templates.
- Participate in the department’s continuous improvement process, including contributing SLO data, assessment commentary, and evidence of student achievement required for ABET preparation.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and maintain regular communication throughout the semester.
- Maintain accurate grade records and meet all university deadlines and academic policies.
- Perform other instructional duties as assigned to support program quality and student success.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, and EXPERIENCE)
- Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field, with at least 18 graduate hours in computing disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to teach at the undergraduate level; prior college-level teaching experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population at an MSI/HSI institution.
- Familiarity with learning outcomes assessment and willingness to contribute to ABET documentation and continuous improvement.
