QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Proof of high school graduation or GED equivalent.
  2. Experience working with children preferred.
  3. Flexible and able to adjust your daily routine.
  4. Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude.
  6. Physically able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
  7. Must have one of the following:

a. 48 hours of college credits, OR

b. Associates or higher degree, OR
c. Competency on the CFISD proficiency test (score of 70 or above).

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

187 Days

 

SALARY/PAY GRADE:

$21,739/IP-2 as approved by the Board of Trustees.

*ABLE aides earn an additional $3,000 annual stipend.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide instructional support under the supervision of a certified teacher.
  2. Reinforce academic, social communication, and behavioral skills.
  3. Work with individual students and small groups.
  4. Assist with instructional materials and classroom supports.
  5. Implement classroom routines and individualized supports as directed. 
  6. Support students and social communication, self-regulation, and transitions.
  7. Assist with personal care needs as required.
  8. Maintain a structured, safe, and supportive learning environment. 
  9. Communicate student progress and concerns to the teacher.
  10. Work collabortatively with staff and participate in training.
  11. Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  12. Collect data on goals and objectives. 
  13. Implement proactive behavior supports, including de-escalation techniques. 
  14. Respond to behavioral crises using district-approved techniques. 
  15. Participate in required crisis intervention training.
  16. Use physical intervention (restraint) only in emergency situations and document in accordance with district procedures. 
  17. Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher, principal or other school personnel supervisor.
  19. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; other specialized and adaptive equipment used by students
  • Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
  • Motion: Frequent walking and reaching
  • Lifting: May require regular heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities, control behavior through physical restraint, assist non ambulatory students, and lift and move adaptive and other classroom equipment; may work prolonged or irregular hours
  • Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather), exposure to noise, exposure to biological hazards (bacteria, communicable diseases)
  • Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress
