What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Assistant Director position at Schoolhouse 226?

We are a full service, Christian preschool seeking an experienced Assistant Director. We are a locally owned preschool with opportunity for those with the desire to grow their career in the childcare industry.

The Assistant Director would work directly with the Director of the school in order to contribute to our preschool program and the operations of the school with duties including but not limited to:

· Front office management

· Assist with mealtimes, snack times, diaper changing, nap time, and classroom activities when needed.

· Process payments through Procare

· Market program through social media

· Maintain all student files

· Professionally and effectively communicate with Schoolhouse 226 parents, children, and staff

· Work with other childcare staff to ensure the well-being and safety of children

· Ensure that the building is opened/closed per policies and procedures

· Assist teachers in various capacities as needed

· Answer parent questions via phone, email, and other communication methods

· Ensure that pick-up and closing procedures run efficiently

· Follow cleaning protocols and guidelines

· Other job duties as assigned

· Clear and consistent communication. You will be responsible for communicating with staff and parents on a daily basis. This includes in-person interactions as well as electronic communication through emails, phone and additional communication systems. We like to keep our staff and parents in the loop and on the same page, and we trust our administrators to make sure this happens. Must be flexible in schedule and willing to assist in all classrooms as needed.

· Relationship building. We expect our administrators to want to know campus staff and families. We are on a first name basis with our parents and staff (unless they prefer otherwise), and we are genuinely interested in their happiness and wellbeing. We have confidence that our administrators are able to maintain positive relationships with all parents and staff. We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate the trust, compassion and empathy it takes to create and support all families.

· Nurturing. We are looking for people who can create a caring school community that will cultivate a climate of healthy and positive growth.

· Reliable. We take punctuality and attendance seriously at Schoolhouse 226. So if you are a chronically late person, this may not be the best place for you.

· Ambitious. We hope that this position is a stepping stone to greater responsibility and leadership within our school.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience in a preschool setting. We are looking for people who have at least two years’ experience in a licensed childcare facility. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with classroom teaching, staff management, and parent relationship management, and direct experiences with Texas childcare licensing requirements.
  • Expert organization and communication skills. Our parents like to know what is going on, so we make sure to keep them in the loop with regular hallway chats, emails, and phone calls. Applicants must have excellent writing, grammar, and speaking skills. You should also be great at prioritizing and have strong organizational skills – we are not a fan of clutter.
  • Ability to manage physical demands of a preschool setting. This includes but is not limited to: sitting on the floor, getting up quickly from the floor, lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching and lifting above your head, etc. Most importantly, you must be physically able to assist in any emergency departure (e.g. carrying children during an evacuation or drill)
  • Strong and confident technology and computer skills. We utilize Microsoft Cloud Office 365 and Procare along with a slew of other productivity and social media platforms. You should be confident using Microsoft programs (especially Outlook), Procare, social media, and the internet in general.
  • Must pass background screening in order to be eligible for hire. Background screening is a State of Texas requirement for all childcare workers.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $36,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
