A Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) works to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive communication, and swallowing disorders from children to adults. This position is responsible for any patient requiring therapy throughout the organization (Inpatient, Outpatient, Swing-bed, Homecare and Hospice).
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assessing, diagnosing, treating, and preventing speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
Establishing and communicating an individualized treatment plan for pediatrics to geriatrics.
Evaluating patient progress and implementing changes to therapy programs as required.
Keeping detailed electronic medical records regarding a patient’s plan, progress, and continued care via initial evaluations, daily notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries.
Reporting patient progress and current status to appropriate parties, which may include family members, teachers, or medical professionals.
Requests needed equipment and supplies for the operation of the department.
Other tasks as assigned by the Rehabilitation Supervisor.
To practice therapy consistent with the American Speech Language and Hearing Association guidelines/Code of Ethics and rules and regulations of the State of Michigan and Medicare/Medicaid program.
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of an ASHA-approved master’s level Speech Language Pathology program.
Must have a current Michigan Speech Therapist License or be eligible for licensure in the State of Michigan as a Clinical Fellow (CF).
Clinical Fellows are encouraged to apply and will be provided appropriate supervision in accordance with ASHA and State of Michigan requirements.
Minimum of two years of clinical experience is preferred; however, strong Clinical Fellow candidates will be considered.
Must have own reliable transportation.
BLS Certified (can be obtained upon hire)
