Wonder Leader

School of Wonder
Brooklyn, NY Contractor
POSTED ON 5/23/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 7/21/2026

Job Summary: Wonder Leaders are the facilitators and guides of our programs or as a kid once called them, “Half Teachers, Half Magicians”. They are teachers who play a key role in showing up as positive role models for the kids, ensuring safety and logistics, and leading activities that inspire scientific and artistic exploration.

Most Wonder Leaders begin as Junior Support Leaders as they learn the ropes, but upon demonstrating the capability to run logistics and safety alongside education, connection, and wonder, quick promotion to Senior Support Leader or Main Leader is available.

About the School of Wonder: Here at School of Wonder, we create immersive adventures in Prospect Park where children embark on imaginative and real journeys following maps and completing missions sent by Gaia (Mother Earth) along the way.

Since 2017, the School of Wonder has developed a method centered around the child’s curiosity and the power of nature to remind us about wonder in the real world. Our vision is that the Wonder Kids become Guardians of the Earth - protectors of the planet and all living beings. Our adventure-based program is designed to help kids find new ways to relate to others, to nature, and to themselves through purpose, creativity, compassion, and commitment to our planet.

Support Wonder Leader Responsibilities:

ACTIVITY SUPPORT: Listen to, play with, and communicate with the kids. Share your skills and knowledge with them and help them resolve conflicts when necessary using nonviolent communication. Be an active participant in their learning by immersing yourself in their wonder and facilitating small pre-planned activities when needed (ex. energizing games, music, dance parties).

LOGISTICAL SUPPORT: Help carry, set-up, and clean up materials and supplies. Look for creative ways to engage kids into the activities and encourage active listening. Be a model of responsibility, helping kids advocate for themselves and considering their physical and emotional needs (water, first aid, inclusion, leadership). Offer input and feedback on activities, kid dynamics, and logistics. Proactively look for ways to support the main leader in whatever they may need.

POSSIBLE EXTRA TASKS: There are also many opportunities to get involved with School of Wonder beyond facilitation (ex. supporting adventure-based curriculum design, social media, documentation, administrative tasks, local marketing, community promotion fairs, etc.).

Schedule Expectations:
