School of the Holy Child is a leading all-girls, Catholic, independent school in Rye, NY, for grades 5 through 12. With a student body of 390 young women from 75 communities in the Bronx, Queens, and Westchester County in New York and Fairfield County in Connecticut, Holy Child’s inclusive community prepares graduates to think critically, act compassionately, and lead confidently in a diverse and interconnected society.


Holy Child seeks an experienced, dynamic, and innovative Upper School math teacher to teach math courses in grades 9-12 and provide support in our Math Center. Ideal candidates have experience teaching a variety of Upper School math courses, are dedicated educators who value interdisciplinary teaching and creative learning experiences; possess strong instructional, organizational, and communication skills; ideally have a minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience; and are highly motivated and passionate about making a difference in students’ lives. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach 4-5 sections of Upper School math 
  • Provide small group support in our Math Center for students enrolled in Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II/Trigonometry
  • Provide math support to individual students and small groups as needed
  • Collaborate with the math department and STEM colleagues to design/map curriculum, create interdisciplinary opportunities for learning, share resources, and evaluate effective methods of teaching; participate in regular meetings with the Department Chair
  • Work with the Learning Center to support students with learning differences
  • Serve as an Upper School Advisor to a group of  8-12 students
  • Show a commitment to community and belonging work
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with every member of the community: students, families, and colleagues alike
  • Attend and participate in parent conferences and school events
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with Division Heads and the advisors about student progress
  • Participate in grade-level and school-wide meetings as needed
  • Engage with new technologies and methodologies for teaching and assessing 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM required; Master’s degree in Education or STEM field preferred
  • Experience teaching similar math content is required
  • 1-3 years Upper School math teaching experience preferred
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about progressive education, problem-based teaching and learning, and differentiation
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • A good sense of humor and collegial spirit

 

Coupled with these credentials, the candidate will have a deep understanding of differentiated instruction, a flexible and team-oriented approach, exceptional organizational and written communication skills with attention to detail, and superior interpersonal skills. In addition, candidates with experience at an all-girls, faith-based school and those who will embrace our School's mission to develop women of conscience and action are preferred.
