Holy Child seeks an experienced, passionate STEM educator with a strong math emphasis for grades 5 and 6. This multi-grade position will include middle school math and science classes and the possibility of technology electives. Experience in teaching Pre-Algebra and/or Algebra 1 is a strength. Aligned with the Holy Child mission, an ideal candidate values creativity, and interdisciplinary learning through experiences. The position is supported by an established curriculum with the opportunity to develop individual interests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach middle school classes: 5th and 6th grade math, 5th grade science, and the possibility of 5th and 6th grade technology courses
- Design and facilitate hands-on and applied STEM learning activities
- Work with individual and small groups of students as needed
- Serve as a middle school advisor to a group of students
- Engage with new technologies and methodologies for teaching and assessing
- Collaborate with math and science colleagues to design/map curriculum, create interdisciplinary opportunities for learning, share resources, and evaluate effective methods of teaching; participate in regular meetings with the department chairs
- Show a commitment to community and belonging
- Work with the Learning Center to support students with learning differences
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with every member of the community: students, families, and colleagues alike.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with the Division Head, advisor, and the student support team about student progress
- Participate in grade-level and school-wide meetings
- Attend and participate in academic conferences and required school events
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in STEM related field preferred
- 1-3 years Middle School teaching experience preferred
- Experience teaching math, science, and technology content is required
- Experience with advising middle school students is preferred
- Passionate and knowledgeable about upper-elementary education, problem-based teaching and learning and differentiation
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- A strong collegial spirit and willingness to be an active member of the school community
