Summary:


The Director, Marketing is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for leading the development and execution of strategic marketing initiatives across domestic and international markets. This individual will oversee the day-to-day operations of complex marketing programs, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives and brand strategy. Working closely with the Head of Marketing and cross-functional teams, the Director will help ideate, plan, and implement multi-channel campaigns focused on lead generation, customer retention, brand visibility, and global expansion. This role requires a seasoned marketing strategist who can balance big-picture thinking with operational excellence. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, data-driven decision-making, and a deep understanding of how to translate insights into scalable marketing programs. They must be a confident communicator, a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders and franchisees, and a motivating leader who inspires creativity, accountability, and collaboration across their team.


Key Responsibilities:


  1. Lead the end-to-end planning, development, execution, and performance analysis of all major seasonal marketing campaigns. This includes overseeing creative development, cross-channel activation, and post-campaign reporting.

  2. Collaborate with the Head of Marketing to manage and optimize digital marketing performance across paid and organic channels. Ensure campaigns are strategically aligned with business goals, performance benchmarks, and brand messaging while continuously refining tactics based on data-driven insights.

  3. Manage a team of marketing professionals, providing clear direction, feedback, and development opportunities to support individual and team success.

  4. Serve as the strategic and executional lead for key annual initiatives such as the Music Camps Program, ensuring strong enrollment and alignment with business objectives.

  5. Collaborate with other internal departments to determine the marketing positioning for initiatives such as GearSelect, new program launches, partnership activations, and other promotional opportunities.

  6. Provide ongoing marketing training, resources, and strategic support to schools across the network. Lead marketing efforts for New School openings, building customized launch strategies that set each location up for success from day one.

  7. Act as a thought partner to stakeholders across the system, serving as a marketing advisor on business challenges, emerging trends, and growth opportunities.

  8. Lead the strategy and execution of Franchise Development marketing efforts to attract prospective franchisees.

  9. Oversee the company-wide email marketing strategy, including content development, segmentation, and automation to ensure consistent and targeted communication with all audience segments.

  10. Lead School of Rock’s global social media strategy with a focus on platform innovation and audience engagement while monitoring emerging trends and platform and algorithm updates.

Other responsibilities:


  • Oversee relationships with key marketing partners and agencies, ensuring alignment on objectives, deliverables, and performance expectations.

  • Develop and implement innovative strategies to attract new students, optimizing existing marketing channels while identifying and testing new growth opportunities.

  • Create ad hoc reports and analyses to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and marketing programs, using insights to guide strategic decisions.

  • Oversee the planning and execution of marketing initiatives through effective project management, aligning short- and long-term priorities across teams and seasonal campaigns, periods of high demand, or special projects.

  • Supervise external contractors or freelance support as needed to flexibly scale the team’s capacity during high-volume periods.


Desired Skills and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 6-8 years of Marketing experience required

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience at a manager level, including leading and managing direct reports and outside agencies

  • Data analytics experience required

  • Direct experience managing complex, cross-functional projects

  • Franchise industry experience preferred

  • Experience in education, music, or children’s services field preferred

  • Skilled at juggling multiple projects, setting priorities, and problem-solving

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to be adaptable and flexible under pressure

  • Entrepreneurial, self-starter who gets excited about rolling up their sleeves and digging into the work

  • Possess a polished demeanor and conduct themselves with a high level of professionalism

  • Operates with high integrity

  • Brings a positive energy and personality to the workplace every day
