Music Instructor // Voice+

School Of Rock is a high-energy performance-based music education program for kids, teens, and adults. We offer individual lessons and group performance classes, organizing hundreds of students into 30 small ensembles which perform at venues around the Twin Cities and beyond.

We're seeking a qualified instructor with a primary focus on Voice.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Some form of formal music education
• Ability to read lead sheets, charts, tabs, and intermediate-level sheet music as applicable to the instruments you teach.
• Teaching experience of at least two consecutive years in either individual or group setting; music teaching experience strongly preferred but we'll consider other *formal* teaching experience.
• Ability to teach vocal and singing technique at an advanced level, plus at least two other instruments at an intermediate level. Please note: we understand that terms like 'advanced' and 'intermediate' can be extremely subjective and we encourage potential candidates to apply if they play at least two instruments besides their primary, even if they aren't sure at exactly what level they'd be able to teach those instruments.
• Professional performing experience on one or more instruments, with audio and video recordings to send before your first interview
• Ability to pass a background / criminal history check
• Ability to work in a loud, chaotic, high-energy environment with children and teens
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing equipment, students, requirements as needed
• Ability to reliably and consistently set availability in four-month blocks (Jan-Apr, May-Aug, Sep-Dec).
• Outgoing, professional, personable demeanor and people skills are a must! This is a client-facing position and requires interaction with upwards of ten clients per day.

PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience directing small ensembles (5-10 students)
• Bachelor's Degree in a music-related field
• Experience teaching in a lesson studio environment

COMPENSATION AND PERKS

• Compensation is $24-$26 to start and includes paid administrative time for setup and teardown at the start and end of each day, paid training and staff meetings, opportunities for paid event work, and occasional overtime pay. Employees are never asked to work off the clock under any circumstances.

HOURS AND AVAILABILITY

All instructors begin as part-time employees; both new and current students are added to rosters based on the students' availability and needs and the instructor's availability. Instructors can opt to add availability to their schedules at any time. Schedules are built consciously, with common-sense consideration and respect for the instructor's time.

INTERVIEW PROCESS

You'll begin with a pre-interview via Zoom. A decision will be made during that meeting whether to move forward with a full interview; if we decide to move forward we'll schedule an in-person interview based on your availability.
