Educational Sign Language Interpreter

The School District of Niagara is seeking a qualified Educational Sign Language Interpreter to support a deaf or hard of hearing student in a variety of educational settings. This position plays an important role in facilitating clear and effective communication between the student, peers, and school staff.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide one-on-one interpreting support for a student in the classroom and school environment
- Interpret and/or transliterate classroom instruction, discussions, and multimedia materials
- Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, peers, and staff
- Adapt communication methods to meet the individual needs of the student
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and teachers of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Serve as a liaison to support positive relationships between the student and others
- Participate in IEP meetings, team discussions, and professional development
- Maintain professional standards in accordance with the RID Code of Ethics
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree
- Valid Wisconsin DPI #884 Educational Interpreter license
- Ability to collaborate effectively with staff and support student needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with students in an educational setting
- Ability to provide oral interpreting
Position Details:
- Full-time position for the 2026–2027 school year
- Potential opportunity for shadowing prior to the start of the school year
- Salary is negotiable based on experience
Start Date:
August 2026, in preparation for the 2026–2027 school year
