Special Education Van Driver

Overview

The School District of Mishicot is seeking a compassionate, dependable individual to serve as a Special Education Van Driver. This position provides safe and reliable transportation for students with disabilities to and from school, primarily during the afternoon hours. Most routes involve transporting one to two students, allowing drivers to build positive, supportive relationships while ensuring a safe and comfortable ride.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students with disabilities to and from school according to established routes and schedules.
• Maintain a calm, patient, and positive demeanor while interacting with students.
• Provide a safe, respectful, and supportive environment during transportation.
• Follow all district transportation procedures and student confidentiality requirements.
• Communicate effectively with school staff and families as needed.
• Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any concerns promptly.

Qualifications

• Valid Wisconsin driver's license with a safe driving record.
• Comfortable working with students who have a variety of disabilities and support needs.
• Compassionate, patient, dependable, and able to remain calm in a variety of situations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to pass all required background checks.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination prior to beginning employment.

Schedule

• Part-time position.
• Primarily afternoon hours during the school year.
• Routes typically transport one to two students.
