The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for a Limited Term Contract 1.0 FTE English Learner (EL) Program Teacher position at Logan High School for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year with the possibility of a permanent position in the 2026-2027 school year. Projected start date: As soon as possible or by the end of January, 2026.
Wisconsin Certification 1395 Is Required. Bilingual Licensure Preferred.

- Strong understanding of cultural diversity and equity.
- Strong understanding of EL methodology, strategies, and pedagogy including the “WIDA Can-Do Descriptors.”
- Strong team-teaching skills, an understanding of teacher roles in this environment, and a working knowledge of a collaborative Co-Plan to Co-Serve to Co-Learn instructional model.
- B.A. or M.A. in TESOL/ESL (preferred but not required).
- Excellent English language skills required.
- Knowledge of Hmong language and culture (preferred).
- Solid understanding of the language acquisition process and EL methodology.
- Successful work experience in the high school EL setting.
- Solid understanding of balanced assessment and data application.
- Background in Response to Intervention and Professional Learning Communities.
- Willingness/experience sharing EL-related expertise with building staff (staff development).
- Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and adaptability.
- Familiarity with ACCESS testing.
- Experience in EL parent education.
- Knowledge of/fluency in additional languages a plus.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development related to TESOL.
- Work with the EL student population with an emphasis on language and skill development across the curriculum.
- Collaborate with other teaching staff in a Co-Plan to Co-Serve to Co-Learn instructional model.
- Monitor and respond to EL achievement (assessment, intervention).
- Supervise designated EL teacher assistants.
- Work with parents of EL’s to develop a positive home/school relationship.
- Coordinate with other teaching staff in the placement and instruction of students in the EL program.
- Complete district data collection as required.
- Administer ACCESS for ELs.
- Attend and participate in EL staff meetings
- Share appropriate cultural information with staff and students.
