- Provide direct nursing services to students, including assessment, triage, first aid, medication administration, and response to illness, injury, and health-related emergencies in accordance with district procedures and professional standards.
- Implement established student health care plans, emergency action plans, medication procedures, and related accommodations during the assigned work period.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential health office documentation, medication logs, treatment records, and related reports in accordance with district procedures and applicable law.
- Communicate with parents or guardians, physicians, school staff, and community providers regarding student health concerns, follow-up care, and continuity of services, as appropriate.
- Implement district procedures related to communicable disease prevention, exclusion and readmission guidance, infection control, bloodborne pathogen precautions, and other health and safety protocols.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the efficient and effective functioning of the school corporation.
- Current Indiana Registered Nurse license required and must be maintained.
- Current CPR certification required and must be maintained.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound nursing judgment, and respond appropriately in routine and emergency circumstances.
- Ability to communicate effectively and interact professionally with students, families, staff, physicians, and community providers.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing and successful experience in pediatric, public health, or school nursing preferred.
- LPN: $25.25 per hour.
- RN: $25.72 per hour.
- This substitute position is not eligible for retirement or health insurance benefits.

This position requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, bend, move throughout the school building and health office, respond promptly to student health needs and emergencies, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
Work is performed primarily indoors in a school setting, including the health office and other areas of the building, and requires frequent interaction with students, staff, families, and outside providers. The position may involve exposure to illness, body fluids, medications, and other routine health office hazards and may require travel between buildings or district locations, as assigned.
