Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role located in Hammond, IN, for a Dual Language Immersion Spanish Teacher (K, 3rd, 5th) and Language Development Teacher (ESL) for grades K-6, 7-8, and 9-12. The educator will deliver grade-appropriate instruction in Spanish and English, using dual language and ESL best practices to support bilingualism, biliteracy, and academic achievement. Daily responsibilities include designing and implementing standards-based lessons, differentiating instruction for multilingual learners, assessing language and content proficiency, and providing targeted interventions. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and families to align curriculum, monitor progress, and promote an inclusive, culturally responsive learning environment. Additional responsibilities may include participation in professional development, school improvement initiatives, and extracurricular or family engagement activities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in Spanish Teaching and effective instruction in dual language or immersion settings.
- Strong Lesson Planning and Curriculum Development skills aligned with state standards and language development frameworks.
- Proven Teaching experience with multilingual learners across K-12, including differentiated and culturally responsive practices.
- Experience with Tutoring or providing small-group/individual support to address varied language and academic needs.
- Valid teaching license or eligibility for licensure in appropriate grade levels and content areas (Spanish and/or ESL/ENL) as required by the state of Indiana.
- Knowledge of second language acquisition, WIDA or similar language development standards, and formative assessment practices.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and maintaining high expectations for students from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience with instructional technology and data-informed instruction to support student growth is preferred.
