POSITION: Teacher Education Instructor


The Mount Washington Valley Career & Technical Center seeks an experienced teacher to lead the Child and Education Studies Program. The successful candidate will provide leadership and teaching in the area of teacher education to high school students enrolled at Kennett High School using modern educational and Career and Technical education practices and recommendations.


Master’s Degree preferred, NH Teacher Certification/Eligibility required. Multiple endorsements across K-12 and/or Special Education are preferred. Certification or SOE for Career and Technical Teacher Education required.


QUALIFICATIONS:

(1) New Hampshire Teacher certification required.

(2) Master’s degree preferred in the area of teaching /administration/curriculum development.

(3) Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience.

(4) Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

P
ERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaches skills and knowledge in the area of teacher education, utilizing NH DOE CTE competencies for Teacher Education and locally developed curriculum and other appropriate learning activities.
  • Develops lesson plans and organizes class time so that preparation, instruction, activity and clean-up can be accomplished within the allotted time.
  • Demonstrates/models exemplary educational pedagogy.
  • Guides pupils in selection of appropriate elective projects or experiments.
  • Maintains a record of student attendance which can be audited and makes daily reports of students absent each period. Assigns citizenship and scholarship marks.
  • Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property. Makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to tools and equipment as required.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil conduct needed to provide an orderly, safe, and productive environment in an activity-type classroom.
  • Keeps informed of the industrial community's job entry requirements and instructs pupils in the rudiments of getting and retaining these jobs.
  • Advises the Educators Rising Career and Technical Student Organization
  • Maintains an active advisory committee consisting of local educators and community members, utilizing the group to support the students and classroom.
  • Recruits opportunities for extended learning opportunities for students, advises and assesses the outcomes of the opportunities. Participates in federal and state grant writing and program review activities.
  • Evaluates each pupil's performance, knowledge, and skills.
  • Selects and requisitions instructional aids and equipment; maintains required inventory records; makes purchases as authorized.
  • Communicates with parents and school counselors on the individual pupil's progress.
  • Identifies pupil needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self- selected professional growth activities.
  • Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
  • Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
  • Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Career and Technical Education Director may assign from time to time.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: In accordance with the Conway Education Association (CEA) contract


WORK YEAR:
187 day / school year position


EVALUATION
: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Conway School Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel. The principal and/or administrative designee will be the evaluator.
